PostgreSQL Data Base Administration

Responsibilities:

* Database Administration / Support & Maintenance

o Troubleshoot and resolve database-related incidents reported by users or detected by database monitoring solution.
o Perform root cause analysis and provide permanent fixes to problems.
o Participant in meetings and provide consultancy/inputs to database related changes.
o Validate and execute formal change requests – e.g. implement database changes to a particular database environment; data copy or data refresh.
o Validate and execute routine change requests – e.g. create users; reset password; grant access to database object.
o Perform regular database maintenance activities – e.g. update schema statistics, rebuild indexes.
o Manage database capacity and tune database performance.
o Ensure that database availability, reliability, and security expectations are met and/or exceeded.
o Participate in System Software Upgrades / Software Patches – e.g. validate the upgrade; test and exploit new features.
o Develop and implement database utility programs — e.g. database monitoring tools, DBA utilities.

* Database Design and Development

o Participate in design review meetings and provide recommendations to database-related changes.
o Create / Modify conceptual database design – e.g. data modeling; ER diagrams.
o Create / Modify logical database design – e.g. ensure tables are properly normalized, define integrity rules.
o Create / Modify physical database design – e.g. transform logical design to physical database implementation; ensure naming conventions properly enforced.
o Create and manage database objects such as tables, indexes, views, packages, etc.
o Review complex database queries and/or programs and recommend changes.
o Develop and implement PL/SQL stored procedures.

Requirements:

* Recognized Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related disciplines
* Having min 3-6 years of working experience in database administration, including PostgreSQL and Oracle
* Hands-on experience in SQL Tuning
* Experience in system architecture will be of added advantage
* Independent, having strong analytical & troubleshooting skills, and able to manage multiple tasks
* Possess good interpersonal, written and communication skills in English, and positive working attitude
* Able to work independently and deliver results
* Main Skills: Required to write stored procedures and functional calls plus creation of user interfaces in the PostgreSQL platform
